If you are able to stick with it for 6 months, then you have made brisk walking a habit. It’s well worth your effort for the potential health benefits.

Yes, walking briskly is the best and cheapest form of exercise. If every one does more walking and less motoring, the world will be better off with less noise and carbon monoxide pollution. People would be more friendly as they greet each other and say hello when they meet. The increase in fuel price will have no effect on walkers. Even golden oldies have walking for their theme e.g. " Walking Back to Happiness- Helen Shapiro, These Boots are meant for Walking - Nancy Sinatra, Walking in the Rain - Gene Kelly, Walk Right Back-The Everly Bros."
Nowadays, bc of modern inventions, people are lazy to walk. For short distances, they will drive and burn fuel which pollutes the environment which in turn results in global warming. The northtern icecap is melting. It's a sign from God, but the majority of the people seem not to care or bother.
Recently I saw the movie Wall.E which depicts a polluted earth with no human or vegetation. Only robots survive in that environment.
It's only a movie but that may be the scenario in the distant future. God gave us legs to walk, not to just press the brakes and excellator. If we let robots do all our work, one day we will be done away with by the robots. That's why we must walk the talk and not talk the walk as most people do.
